What We'll Cover
EMAIL MARKETING FOR BEGINNERS COURSE OVERVIEW
Across six sessions, here's what you'll learn, explore and leave with:
An Introduction to Email Marketing
Email marketing is one of the most direct ways to reach your audience.
In the first session, you'll explore what email marketing is, why it works and what separates a good email from one that goes straight in the bin. You'll leave this session with a clear understanding of what you're building towards.
Building Your List
Before you can send a single email, you need a mailing list.
In this session, you'll learn how lists are built, what makes someone want to sign up to receive your emails and how to start growing an audience of people who are genuinely interested in what you do. By looking at real-world examples, you'll see which emails work, which don't and which can result in legal issues.
Writing Emails People Open
We could skip ahead to the copy in the email itself, but we would be missing the challenge of getting your audience to open an email in the first place.
Most emails get deleted without ever being opened. To tackle that, in this session you'll learn how to write subject lines that get clicks, opening lines that make the reader feel like they made the right choice and email copy that genuinely engages your audience.
Who Are You Writing For?
When you look at your audience, who's there? Not everyone will be the same, even if they're there for the same reason.
In this session, you'll begin thinking about all of the different epople who make up your audience and how varied their needs are. Have they arrived from different places? Are they at different stages of their customer journey? Have they already committed to an idea or a purchase? By the end of this session, you'll have an idea of how your target audience can be segmented so that you can send the right emails to the right inboxes.
Building Your First Sequence
A single email does very little, but a sequence can be the bridge between you and your audience.
In this session, you'll explore what email sequences are, how they work and how to plan and write your first sequence.
Test, Test, and Test Again
Sending your email is only the beginning.
Once you send an email, you don't get to wave it goodbye and see whether anyone lands on your doorstep. In this session, you'll learn how to read the data your chosen email platform gives you and make simple improvements that you can use to build tests for better results.
The Final Project
Right from the very first session, we'll begin working on your final project. You'll finish Email Marketing for Beginners by submitting a welcome sequence and a small portfolio, ahead of your 1:1 session.
1:1 Session
At the end of this marketing course, you'll be offered a 1:1 session to talk through anything you're hoping to achieve, anything you're finding challenging, or any next steps you want to take, as well as your final project.
